Renewable energy and the energy transition
From Chinese solar manufacturing to Gulf giga-projects, the energy transition is one of the region's largest capital stories.
Why it's attractive
China dominates global solar-panel and battery manufacturing; India has set aggressive renewable-capacity targets; Gulf states are directing sovereign wealth into economic diversification away from oil. Each creates a distinct, investable domestic industry rather than a single global theme.
How to get access
Listed renewable-energy developers and utilities, green sukuk and green bonds, and dedicated ESG/renewable funds (see above) are the most direct public-market access points.
What to watch out for
Policy dependence cuts both ways — subsidy changes and tariff disputes (notably around Chinese solar exports) can move renewable-sector valuations as much as the underlying technology does.
